NIVM Kirkland

The Northern Illinois Veterans Memorial is a place of honor, memory, and reflection. It was in 1989 when Gene Sparrow suggested that a monument be erected to commemorate all those who served our country. It was a labor of love for the community, with groundbreaking taking place in December 1990. With the help of four local union members who offered their labor pro bono, the memorial was completed and dedicated on Memorial Day 1991.
